At the end of the 2,860 km of the Danube, from the Black Forest Mountains in Germany to the Romanian Black Sea coast, lies a true paradise of nature. Over time they expanded river silt brought by Delta, turning it into a network of lakes and canals, reed beds, forests, grasslands and sand dunes covering nearly 5460 km 2. This stunning wetland shelters over 300 bird species, countless fish species, sturgeons to carp and sallow, and the over 1150 species of plants cover a wide variety, from oak forests to water lilies.

The Delta is a special territory, not only geologically, but also because it becomes a point of attraction for all kinds of creatures. The emergence of the delta decided the meeting place of the birds in their annual migration. Thus, by placing it, the Danube Delta has become a place where birds of various geographic origins coexist, finally forming a true paradise that inhabits air, water and dry land. The variable proportion of water to land decides which species will predominate in a given year. The abundance of food that the delta offers to birds has led to the installation of a large number of species here. Even birds with adaptations to the terrestrial environment have more populations in the delta than outside them. Within this perimeter there are a lot of unique birds. Over time, an original balance has been created between the different bird species and the continued transformation of land and water. Birds have adapted to the whims of the delta, although some have a very different biology. Some species are only passing through the delta, but alongside the others, they form an ecosystem that must be kept as such.
